Art Movie (Photography): Finding Vivian Maier

Marketing thoughts: E-Commerce Companies Find That Print Catalogues Boost Online Sales

Shoppers spend more money buying online after they've browsed lavish print ads, according to marketers who work for Neiman Marcus, Williams-Sonoma, and other retailers. Nearly 12 billion catalogs were mailed to shoppers in 2013, but that's far below the 2007 peak of nearly 20 billion. However, many online retailers are now experimenting with print catalogs, such as Bonobos, a men's clothing company. In fact, roughly 20% of Bonobos' first-time customers now place orders after receiving one of the company's catalogs, and spend 1.5 times longer shopping on its website than those who didn't receive a catalog. Support Slow Art Day !!!

Today is slow art day (4/12/14).

One day each year people all over the world visit local museums and galleries to look at art slowly. Participants look at five works of art for 10 minutes each and then meet together over lunch to talk about their experience. That’s it. Simple by design, the goal is to focus on the art and the art of seeing.

Slow day 2014 is on April 14th.

Can't make it to a gallery today? Visit the website of an artist or gallery in our directory.

And be sure to visit the SlowArt Day website.
